Oxford Composer Companions: Haydn (Oxford Companions)

In his lifetime Haydn enjoyed huge popularity throughout Europe and was admired by other composers as a leading composer. This biography concentrates on his life and works and there is an A to Z of all his works, family trees, a map, and an index of first lines. A companion you can dip into and retrieve information in bite size chunks.

Haydn and His World (The Bard Music Festival)

This is the first collection of essays in English about Haydn to be examined bya group of leading musicologists and they explore his works in relation to the artistic, intellectual and cultural trends of the times. The book also includes two late 18th century discussions translated into English for the first time about the music and musicians of Haydn's time. There is also a fascinating look at the contents of Haydn's library.
